LIVING WITH NATURE IN ANKARA
Living with Nature in Ankara
Urban macroform of Ankara was shaped in line with the effects of topography and water traces, which play a major role in the formation of the ecological and formal character of the city. The riverbeds of Ankara had an important role in the macroform of the city and served for social life and greenery throughout its history. The existing rivers of Ankara has a potential to form a network. However, the lack of water management, the wrong interventions, and the planning of transportation axes on these beds destroy this potential. The project proposes a new model of city network formed by the riverbeds by using potential of flood that was seen a shortcoming. In this new city model, the natural water texture and greenery are organized in such a way as to be included in the city life and spread to the whole city, thus enabling it to live together with the citizens, to nourish the city and its inhabitants. While leaving the ground for green, all city functions takes place in megastructure.
