KNOW THE PAST / CHALLENGE THE PRESENT / CREATE THE FUTURE DESIGN AND INNOVATİON ACADEMY, AHMADABAD-INDIA
The site is located in Ahmedabad near the Sabarmati River and very close to the Tagore Hall. Climatic conditions of the city are prominent because the temperatures are very high with miserable humidity under the mostly sunny sky. Open spaces such as roof terraces and courtyards are also important social spaces in Indian culture. The project aims to create shaded open and semi-open social spaces in 6 steps with the help of references from Louis Khan and Le Corbusier who are two important architects for India. Elevating with plots and arches for plasticity issues, rotating and shifting floors, and using sun breakers define the spaces as a common architectural language, heightening the roofs and green terraces for sustainability issue steps are applied to the concrete massive site arrangement with the brutalist approach.
