Bodrum: Performative Deep Sections
“If a Deep Urbanism is a reading of the city as a complex system composed of interconnected layers of social and biogeochemical processes, then the deep section is its primary graphic device for communicating a synthetic view.”
Bodrum is a perfect place to be understood in this respect, with its various programs thriving above, below, within urban ground such as infrastructure, superstructure, underground ruins, vegetation, and water. By means of deep-section, we can Bodrum’s seemingly unrelated programs in one frame which is not possible in other mediums. Accordingly, the section is a tool for both analysis and design. Through sections, this project proposes regenerating Bodrum by linking similar but rather not related programs, which are supposed to be “positive”, replacing the facilities focusing abundantly on tourism and consumption. It is carried out on every scale: from the peninsula to the neighborhood. Bodrum is aimed to become an amalgamation and intersection of multidirectional and multidimensional sections.
