VERTICAL CAMPUS: IZMIR SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN
Verticality and horizontality are not coming from the dimensions of the structure. It comes from the interaction of the spaces. A traditional campus is collection of spaces which located in the same level and connected within the ground level. By changing direction of interaction we can obtain a well working vertical campus. In order to achieve a well-connected vertical campus we should focus on the interaction spaces between main function areas.
By designing the vertical allee which creating the multipurpose spaces for both students and faculty members at the each level of the building, we achieve environments that are in physical and psychological communication. These vertically stacked environments will support the education process while eliminating need of a space which directly related with the street. The main street of the campus is this vertical allee.
