KNOW THE PAST / CHALLENGE THE PRESENT / CREATE THE FUTURE DESIGN AND INNOVATİON ACADEMY, AHMADABAD-INDIA
The project is located on the banks of the Sabarmati River which flows in the south-north axis and divides the city into two pieces. Historical urban fabric is located at east whereas the structures representing the modern architecture developed at the west; therefore, one of the main concerns of the project is being in harmony with the rest of the city with its fragmented mass organization similar to IIM of Louis Kahn. In addition to the urban references to the structures in its immediate vicinity, it has three main axes which shape the mass organization. The central spine of these three axes creates the ‘Innovation Street’ which hosts educational facilities totally available for public usage. The ‘innovation street’ provides special space qualities for their users with its sunken level. This provides two main advantages for users against the extremely hot and dry weather conditions of Ahmedabad; creating shaded areas and cooling people via Venturi Effect thanks to canalized air.
