OLD WITH THE NEW: A NEW MODERN INTERPRETATION OF A HISTORICAL ICON
Famagusta is a city which has rich history and architectural heritage. It is essential topreserve and further enhance this valuable heritage. A reinterpretation of the existingstructures would be a means of reinstatement and revival of the past. Kypria is an annual festival which is held at multiple venues across Cyprus in September and October. It has been runningsince 1990 and was organised by the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture. The programme of the festival includesmusic, dance, photography exhibitions, opera, ballet and other performance artsperformance arts. Therefore, the proposed performance artscentre will not only become the main venue for this annual eventbut it will also make the festival a more international event.
