SARK COMMUNITY CENTER

This project is aimed at renovating Sark Industries by transforming it into a community center for the newly developed master plan of the Alsancak industrial district. It focuses on rebuilding and strengthening ties of Alsancak district’s rather segregated communities. Taking references from its context, this project is built upon the ideology of blending in with its surrounding, rehabilitation of heritage and creating flexible spaces for the community that continue outside and ultimately uniting them with green. By applying fragmentation and the use of different textures and perforations, a sense of transparency, openness, connectivity, and curiosity is also established when one walks through this center.
