ECO-CITY ANKARA II: DESIGNING NODES FOR SOCIO-CULTURAL REGENERATION
THE EPI-MIMESIS ART & SCIENCE CENTER
The Epi-Mimesis Art & Science Center
The site designed as a continuous green corridor around the Çubuk stream establishes a spatial relationship of the urban fabric of Ankara. With some decisions taken from the upper scale, additional pedestrian walkways were formed; thus, it was aimed for citizens to reach the site easily from different central regions. Based on the idea of a community hall, the center, having the duty of becoming a public space, aims to facilitate accessibility and fluidity through a continuous green axis, while emphasizing the references it receives from the site. Being enriched with open, semi-open, and closed spaces, the relationship between the indoor and outdoor spaces were strengthened by providing public functions for various user profiles together with circulation areas working as exhibition halls, event halls and social gathering spaces. Art and science activities were included to provide socio-cultural sustainability through learning, producing and exhibiting.
