A CONTEMPORARY INFRASTRUCTURE FOR ARCHITECTURAL CULTURE IN BOLOGNA
“City air makes you free” is a saying from middle ages in Europe that remind us how cities enable social, political and economic liberty and should. Bologna is a very important city to show this socio-cultural urban character. Both with the social and physical environment the urban life are well-improved. These two aspects can be linked to each other and I design my building according to the hypothesis that the form and the character of the public spaces can shape the socio-cultural life. Therefore, I tried to explore different forms that will create in-between spaces to create an interaction with the environment and with different functions inside the building. I created an active promenade that houses the different functions while connecting the historical Bologna to the new Bolognina. The continious plates create spaces by folding in different directions, transforming the promenade into a building with many in-between spaces that forms an interactive journey to the public.
