A CONTEMPORARY INFRASTRUCTURE FOR ARCHITECTURAL CULTURE IN BOLOGNA

URBAN ALLEY

Bologna is a historical city and there are piazzas surrounded by buildings, long walkways at its historic center. City has courts linking streets and buildings with continuous facades defining courts. Under buildings, there are passages opening to courtyards. These features of Bologna are used to form the spaces in project. Site is divided to two triangular pieces with a diagonal axis which connects two important corners. One is near old bridge linking old Bologna to Bolognina Neighborhood. Other corner is very close to City Hall, one of the new buildings in Bologna. According to existing conditions of the site, other axes are defined in a perpendicular way to main axis. Connection with surrounding roads and streets create two of them. Existing blocks of the site like Theatre and Memorial form other two axes. Density of people on important corners of the site affects block density at site. Intensive areas at site become unfilled parts while other parts are proper to build.
