KNOW THE PAST / CHALLENGE THE PRESENT / CREATE THE FUTURE DESIGN AND INNOVATİON ACADEMY, AHMADABAD-INDIA
To propose a design in India, first, we need to define the ‘’architectural vocabulary’’ of it. India’s architecture is shaped with water, light, climate, geometry, material, open spaces, and levels. The versatility of its architecture is my first inspiration point. The concept of non-building and forest classroom is pretty much relevant for design and innovation hub for India as it engulfs past, present, and future of it. In terms of spatial configuration, I use the ideology of Navagraha and its 9 heavenly bodies. I arrange my courtyards -chowks- according to the meanings of the mandala and distribute functions accordingly. I create spiritual paths and alleys that bind these chowks. The institution is like a small Indian city that provides a variety of experiences and functions with a multifarious arrangement.
