The first impression about the site, which located in Izmir port, is that it is excessively complex and not easy to experience the uniqueness of the surroundings. The public use of Kordon and the professional needs of the port create a tension throughout the site. Educational programme of the project may result in some additional problems. In order to avoid this risk, the project aims to create a simple image which is not going to force the site to become more complex. However, as a design school, the project needs various spaces to serve to the students. The building, glass prism, is split by a dominant void and reconnected by the void again. From sculpture garden in the ground to the design studios at the top of the building, the void transforms itself to define different kind of relations to connect and split the functions. The project also reuses the old buildings in the site, and reprogrammes the viaducts as a landscape design project area.
