D & I ACADEMY
Ahmedabad has a hot semi-arid climate and a high number of sunny days. Solutions for hot days vary in Indian architecture and neighboring countries. Also, the site is located near many cultural features, and there is an already cultural axis that starts from Sanskar Kendra Museum and ends with Riverfront Event Center. The project is designed based on climatic conditions and near cultural features. Several wind corridors create passive cooling and ventilation. Also beginning of corridors serve for public events, and at the end of the corridors, there are windcatchers to collect the wind, and they use a down-draft evaporative cool tower system. Also, since brick and timber are cheap and local materials in Ahmedabad, brick masonry and timber are used as a structural system. Furthermore, the new understanding of design education will be more interlocked and multidisciplinary, and users will define working areas. So that studios have a visual and physical connection, and spaces can customize according to needs. Also, the common creativity area will serve for socializing purposes like eating, student club events, etc. Different disciplines will come together and share various ideas. Moreover, movable furniture and digital partitions will change the whiteboard to a transparent surface. That provides freedom in the working space.
